Being Two Years Old: The Essence.

Me: “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray/You’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away.”

W: “Actually, Mommy, I AM going to take your sunshine away.”

  1. This song was similarly sung by at least two generations on my mother’s side. For some reason, I always assumed it was a Hank Williams song.

However, I doublechecked just now (http://tinyurl.com/2awbwl). It was written by future-governor Jimmy Davis, and announced to be the favorite song of King George VI. Which is nice, but it does sound best delivered to littler royalty, though, doesn’t it?
